Our hope is that we can generate passionate, but civil and mature discourse on a wide range of subjects including politics, economics, religion, spirituality, law, and public policy. Of course, we welcome other serious suggestions for additional subject matter. We hope you will participate and enjoy!
It has been observed that many of us, perhaps finding it difficult to embrace the joys and the horrors -- the mirth and the madness -- of our world today, have employed delusion and denial as protective filters that affect the way we view and interact with people, events and ideas. From time to time we will offer a bit of a teaser, an icebreaker of sorts, that will suggest the presence of "delusion and denial" and invite your comments on that subject.
It is our hope that by collectively exploring this observation as it manifests in current issues and events of general interest, our individual understanding of the "how and why" of our world will gain honesty, clarity, and productive focus.
Recently, much has been made of the sorry state of public school education and determining just who is responsible for positive and negative outcomes. Even a casual survey of the public comments offered by parents, professionals, and pundits suggests that the name of the game is ascribing blame instead of stakeholders accepting their own portion of responsibility - and there seems to be more than enough to go around. It seems that if there was ever an issue that begs us all to be our "Brother's (Children's) Keeper" this would be it.
